SFD Support Organization became an officially registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization in the state of Louisiana. Still in the early phases of building our foundation, we are working towards building a more distinguished & modern presence within SFD & SFD families. While continuing the original goal of supporting SFD members with cultivating & encouraging relationships & camaraderie throughout the shifts and department, but also expanding our purpose to promote awareness of the mental, emotional, & physical struggles Fire Fighters often face during and after their careers. SFDSO will organize events and fundraising each year to build & strengthen these relationships and awareness in each of these objectives.
We encourage a family culture where Shreveport Fire Fighters & their immediate family receive the emotional, mental, & physical support needed throughout a Fire Fighters career. We want to cultivate a more transparent and informed department, along with their families on Fire Fighters physical and mental health risks by ensuring Fire Fighters receive the knowledge & support they need at the station to properly prepare for stressful & challenging shifts, while also facilitating in the education and support network of families.
