We offer Equine Assisted Activities to individuals with special needs. We work with needs such as, Anxiety, ADHD, and depression as well as, greater needs such as Autism, Muscular Dystrophy and Downs Syndrome. According to the US Bureau of the Census, Caddo Parish alone, shows that 22.6% of the overall population has a disability of some nature. This percentage reflects all individuals from age 5 to older. There are only two Equine Assisted Therapy facilities in Caddo Parish currently servicing this percentage of the population. We are very excited to be able to offer assistance in this greatly under serviced population.
Pairing therapeutic riding with rescued horses seemed to go hand-in-hand, serving not only individuals with special needs, but also the forgotten and mistreated horses who are simply looking for a second chance. Watching both riders and horses gain confidence and strength from each other is truly the reason for Hero Horse
Mission
Hero Horse is a therapeutic riding facility and equine rescue whose mission is to inspire and improve the overall well-being of individuals of all ages who have any physical or mental disabilities. This is done by partnering riders with one of our rescued and rehabilitated hero horses trained in equine assisted therapies. Our focus is on possibilities, not disabilities; empowering those we serve by providing a welcoming, healing environment.
