We are a dedicated group of individuals who rescue over 800 dogs every year! We specialize in the rescue and care of pregnant dogs, orphaned puppies, and special needs dogs. We also provide care for senior dogs and often provide hospice care for our rescues that are too advanced in age to adopt. We provide this specialized care in our own homes to bring comfort and increased socialization to the dogs in our care.
Our volunteers are highly trained in the care of special needs puppies. Our level of care includes specialized training with cleft palates, hydrocephalus, premature puppies and other birth defects. We are able to bottle feed or tube feed puppies if necessary, and even have 5 incubators and oxygen concentrators available for our most delicate puppies!
The dogs in our rescue often come from the saddest of situations. They are usually turned in to kill shelters or seized in animal hoarding and backyard breeding cases. These rescues often come to us neglected, matted, ill, and/or injured. We fully vet them and get them healthy and ready for adoption into new families that will care for them as they should be. Until they are ready, we care for these babies in our homes and with our whole hearts.
Our rescue is run entirely by our dedicated volunteers. They receive no pay for their services which include caring for our puppies and mommas, oftentimes around the clock for days or weeks at a time. Our average MONTHLY operating cost is $5,000. This includes our vet bill and supplies to keep our puppies alive. We receive no monetary assistance from the state, parish, or city. Our rescue relies solely on generous donations from our community of pet lovers to help us continue our mission of saving the most delicate victims of pet overpopulation.
Please keep us in your thoughts during Give for Good and all year-round. Thank you for your support!
"Can't believe the hard work and diligence by Jean and other workers for this rescue. I love my little Lula rescued from an Arkansas puppy mill." -Kaylon
"LABM are the best! They are amazing with Tiny's with special needs. We adopted our Zoie FKA Snuffy. She has brought joy into our lives. We plan to adopt another long haired chi in the future. Thanks for all that you do for all the babies. We appreciate you so much!" -Edna
"They care about these dogs, bend over backwards to place them and our puppy Ranger is a part of the family now. I appreciate all they do to save these sweet little fur babies!" -Jen
"TSR La Baby Mommas is an amazing group. They take on medical needs puppies that no one else would even try to. I love these people for all they do. So many many doggie lives saved because of them. Please support them anyway you can. God Bless the people of Baby Mommas." -Barbara
"I have adopted from other places, both shelters and rescues with mixed results on care. It wasn't until I adopted through LABM that I felt like a rescue actually cared for the dogs. Our puppy came to us healthy, happy, and ready to easily adjust to life in his forever home. They truly care about the animals and are getting them ready for their life with a family. Whenever people ask me what rescue to adopt from, I cant say LABM fast enough." -Ellen
I have known Jean WIlliams Johnson, founder of TSR LA Baby Mommas for over 5 years. I met her during her vigilant involvement with Braveheart. I saw her dedication to the abused, the discarded, the "under dogs" if you will, in our town. She was such a force to be reckoned and to witness all the good she has done to save these precious fur babies that would otherwise be euthanized or discarded, well I just knew that this rescue scenario was something I wanted to be apart of. I adopted my precious Princess Fiona Jane from her organization 5 years ago, since then I have started to foster for her from time to time. I have shed a few tears along this road but she is always there to calm me down, teach me, and give encouragement. I have seen her get up in the middle of the night to drive several states over to get a baby in distress, she also willingly assists and helps other rescues and will even take on their special needs babies when asked, she does this without hesitation. If it can be done she will do it. Jean is a tough, no nonsense lady and that is truly why I believe her rescue has succeeded. But with all non-profits there is always mounting vet bills to be paid, supplies to be bought, etc. I believe she deserves any help that can be given to her. Thank You, Lisa Caldwell
