Nova's Heart

We received our 501c3 in October 2015. In May 2019 we moved our offices over to Hope House, 762 Austen Place, Shreveport, La. 71101. 

In the last 10 years we have spay/neutered over 245 dogs and cats, many are the pets of those in the homeless community in our local area. To date we have vaccinated well over 1400 dogs and cats as well. Our vaccination days are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every months from 9-12. We have to purchase these vaccinations. 

 Once a month our veterinarian, Dr. Caleb Killian of Cornerstone Veterinary Hospital, comes in and holds a free rabies clinic for our clients. All of these services are provided at no cost to those who qualify and are all done with donations. We have new clients every week coming in to the office or calling us asking to be added to our list to spay/neuter their pets. Our education is getting out to the public and we couldn't be happier!!

Another aspect of our program is that we provide food and supplies for the pets. We started out handing out about 10-15 gallon-sized bags of dog food a week. We are now handing out 400-500 pounds of dog and cat food a week. Food and supplies are available Wednesday and Friday at our office at Hope House from 9-12:30.

In December 2016 we were awarded the 'Best Charitable Group of 2016' by SB Magazine. We have also begun working with local organizations like The Family Criminal Justice Center, The Caddo District Attorney's Office Special Victim's Unit, Bossier Sheriff's Office, and Veteran's Administration to help the local community when in need of assistance with their animals if the human is in a crisis.
