Western District St. Vincent de Paul members are all volunteers, known as Vincentians, who make personal home visits in pairs to determine the immediate needs, and discern how best to assist the individual or family in order to ease the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Christ. St. Vincent de Paul is committed to being good stewards of your Give For Good donations. One hundred percent (100%) of your donations is used to directly serve those in need of emergency assistance in Shreveport, Bossier, and surrounding areas. The Give For Good donations made directly to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be divided evenly among the active conference fundraising campaigns.

Our emergency services help combat homelessness in the area as well. Among the services provided, but not limited to these, are food, clothing, utility payments, rental and mortgage assistance, donated furniture, city bus passes, and referrals to other organizations providing additional services not provided by our organization. The St. Vincent de Paul Help Line, 318-865-7807, is available to those seeking emergency assistance Monday - Friday of each week, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. each day. 

In the most recent fiscal year (October 2022 - September 2023), St. Vincent de Paul assisted 6,673 people by providing $354,798 in direct aid and $64,143 in indirect aid (food/clothing/furniture)--all  emergency assistance services and visits.

Diocesan Appeal Support of St Vincent de Paul:  Through the generosity of the Bishop of the Diocese of Shreveport, The Eastern District (6 conferences), the Southern District (1 conference), and the Western District (12 conferences) Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVdP) receives annual support from the Diocesan Appeal. Because of this support, the 19 SVdP Conferences and Councils can pay for their insurance, solidarity dues and operating costs (i.e., Helpline phone line, storage fees, printing and postage costs) without using funds given by our parishioners on behalf of those in need. With your Give for Good support, the SVdP conferences can use 100% of your donation for assisting those not as materially blessed.
